Yoga Exercise Specialist (YES) certified and RYT 200. In both Canada and the United States, Denise has a varied history in fitness. She achieved her first Dan in Shotokan Karate in 1994 and completed her certification as a personal trainer and fitness instructor through the YMCA in 1997. Having been an avid runner and cyclist, Denise competed in several duathlons after turning 45. Denise also teaches basic belly dance, having studied under Kelly Crockett at the Oasis Dance Studio in Kingston, Ontario. She is a certified behavioral management coach, having worked delivering programs in a prison setting. Always evolving into her “best self”, Denise’s primary motivation in sharing her yoga spirit is to invite to practice those who, because of mistaken perceptions about yoga, poor body image, or unconditioned fitness levels would never otherwise feel comfortable setting foot in a yoga studio.

Kristen Barfield, RYT-200 from Blooming Life Yoga, RN-BSN, knew even before attending her first class that there was something special about yoga. It was something that kept calling to her as she raised her family and worked nights as a Labor and Delivery nurse. Kristen kept thinking that there had to be something more than the traditional fitness paradigm. After attending her first Hatha class Kristen knew she was home. Kristen’s yoga journey has carried her through the mental and physical highs and lows of her life. Yoga truly meets you where you are at everyday. Kristen comes to her mat with gratitude and a sense of wonder of how her practice of yoga continues to teach her about her true self on and off the mat. Community, Practice and Mindfulness are what Kristen hopes to share.
