Denise Kerr

Yoga Exercise Specialist (YES) certified and RYT 200. In both Canada and the United States, Denise has a varied history in fitness. She achieved her first Dan in Shotokan Karate in 1994 and completed her certification as a personal trainer and fitness instructor through the YMCA in 1997. Having been an avid runner and cyclist, Denise competed in several duathlons after turning 45. Denise also teaches basic belly dance, having studied under Kelly Crockett at the Oasis Dance Studio in Kingston, Ontario. She is a certified behavioral management coach, having worked delivering programs in a prison setting. Always evolving into her “best self”, Denise’s primary motivation in sharing her yoga spirit is to invite to practice those who, because of mistaken perceptions about yoga, poor body image, or unconditioned fitness levels would never otherwise feel comfortable setting foot in a yoga studio.

Tobie Hall

Tobie Hall, RYT 200 and Pilates 900 has a BS in Fine Arts from Ball State University. She now has over 25 years experience in the field, specializing in Pfrimmer deep muscle, energy work and myofascial release. Her love of exercise also led her to her certification as a Pilates teacher. She loves to practice both, and continues her massage therapy practice and training as well.

Alexis is a student in Blooming Life’s inaugural 200-hour teacher program and enjoys attending different types of yoga classes while exploring her edge mentally and physically. She wants to share the benefits of yoga with all ages, body types, and levels of experience.

Pushpak Mehta

A traditional teacher in the Iyengar lineage, Pushpak started ‘practicing’ on the mat about 15 years ago, however Yoga poses were a part of his lifestyle growing up in India. His learning curve became very steep when he started teaching several years ago. His philosophy is: when you teach, you learn twice. He teaches all levels and all ages, so he can learn many more times! To Pushpak, yoga is not about touching the toes; it’s about you experiencing the stretch. Just like we are different on the outside and have different choices, we are different on the inside and have different lifestyles. So what may be a good stretch for one person may not be the right stretch or an over stretch for another! Pushpak focuses on individualization, designing the pose to fit individual’s present capability and needs – the key to a great Yoga Experience. In that spirit, Pushpak doesn’t ‘Lead the class’, but rather, ‘Follows individuals’.

Kristen Barfield

Kristen Barfield, RYT-200 from Blooming Life Yoga, RN-BSN, knew even before attending her first class that there was something special about yoga. It was something that kept calling to her as she raised her family and worked nights as a Labor and Delivery nurse. Kristen kept thinking that there had to be something more than the traditional fitness paradigm. After attending her first Hatha class Kristen knew she was home. Kristen’s yoga journey has carried her through the mental and physical highs and lows of her life. Yoga truly meets you where you are at everyday. Kristen comes to her mat with gratitude and a sense of wonder of how her practice of yoga continues to teach her about her true self on and off the mat. Community, Practice and Mindfulness are what Kristen hopes to share.
